Also called blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery can be performed on the upper or lower lids. When loose, saggy skin develops on the eyelids, usually due to age, it can make you seem much older than you really are. Sagging eyelid skin poses a risk of impairing vision – and make you look tired and old. Eyelid surgery is the perfect answer.
As with most medical procedures, the experience, training and skill of your doctor is the most important factor in avoiding complications. Our surgeons have extensive experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. They are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow American College of Surgeons (FACS).
In competent hands, your potential risks are greatly reduced. They may include:
Because Flawless Aesthetic Center is the premier skincare medspa in Nigeria, your chance of risk is mitigated by a team passionately focused on your treatment, outcome and care. While any surgery has associated risks, you are in good hands under our care.
Incisions to either the upper or lower eyelid are placed in a smoothly curved horizontal line so that the scars fall naturally into the natural lines of the lids. In fact, the upper eyelid incision is often placed inside the natural crease of the lid making it almost invisible.
Once the incisions are made, fat deposits can be removed or repositioned and the muscles can be tightened, and excess skin removed. If the upper eyelid has sagged over the eye, the lift will correct vision and the results can be a startling recovery of bright eyes and a youthful look.
Closing the incisions may be done with sutures or skin glue, whichever is more appropriate to the individual patient.
During recovery, lubrication and cold compresses are often applied to help with swelling and bruising discoloration (which should be minimal). Your recovery instructions need to be carefully followed and may include:
How to care for your eyes during recovery.
Any medications recommended for healing and infection protection.
What to look for to monitor your healing process or to note complications.
Your follow-up appointment schedule.
When sutures will be removed.
How to avoid direct sunlight during the healing process.
Blepharoplasty results are typically long-lasting. You should be able to go out in public within two weeks, but the final results of your procedure may not be fully visible for a few months.
