Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that shortens the length of the labia minora, or inner lips of the vagina, or the labia majora, the outer lips of the vagina. It tightens up and reshapes labia that may have become slack or asymmetrical from things like aging, childbirth, extended time twisting on a bicycle seat, or even heredity.

The procedure typically takes one to two hours.
Most patients take a week off from work. During that week, to reduce swelling, you can apply a cold pack and lie with your buttocks elevated. The major swelling should subside in six weeks; residual swelling can take up to six months. Your surgeon may also recommend that you use a lubricant for the first three to four weeks.
The recommendation is to refrain from having sexual intercourse or using a tampon for three to four weeks following surgery.
