Liposuction in Nigeria

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure by which fat deposits are removed from the body to improve body contour and proportion. It is not a replacement for diet or exercise and is not a method of “weight loss,” but it is frequently employed when the usual efforts of diet and exercise are unsuccessful in producing what a patient considers a pleasing or satisfactory result.

Our liposuction in Nigeria is also often used as a “first step” in conjunction with other procedures that entail fat grafting, in which a patient’s own fatty tissue is injected into area in which more volume is desired.

Typical areas from which fatty tissue may be removed are:

  • The tummy
  • The buttocks
  • The thighs
  • The hips

Types of procedures that might call for liposuction prior to fat grafting are breast augmentations and mini face lifts, in which fatty tissue can be used to add volume to the cheeks. One of the benefits of using a patient’s own fat is that, because it is the patient’s own tissue, there is far less chance of there being an allergic or other adverse reaction, or of it being rejected altogether.

What Should I Expect?

Liposuction is most frequently performed in a doctor’s office, using either a local or general anesthesia. With a local, you will be awake but not feel any pain; with a general you will be asleep throughout the procedure.

If you are having a lot of fat removed or it is being done as a “first step” in conjunction with other procedures, your surgeon may recommend that it be done in a hospital for some patients, where you can stay overnight.

Fundamentals of Liposuction:

There are four basic types of liposuction that utilize the same fundamental steps:

  • Your surgeon will make one or more small incisions near the treatment area.
  • He will insert a thin tube, called a cannula, into the incisions and loosen the fat under the skin.
  • Finally, he will suction the fat out of the area.

Types of liposuction:

Tumescent Liposuction

A tumescent solution, containing anesthetic is injected into the treatment area.

Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction

Ultrasound energy helps break up the fatty tissue and loosen it from the body.

Laser Assisted Liposuction

Laser energy is used to help dislodge the fat cells.

Suction Assisted Liposuction

A vacuum-like device helps remove the fat from the treatment area.

Depending on the number of areas being treated, the procedure can take one to three hours or more.

What Is The Recovery From Liposuction Like?

Most patients will be asked to wear a compression garment for several weeks after surgery to reduce swelling, which may last from three to six weeks, or up to a year. Depending on the number of treatment areas and volume of fat removed, patients typically return to work within two to three days.

What are the Benefits of Liposuction?

Our liposuction procedure uses a very versatile device that allows for fat removal in almost any area of the body.

The length of the cannula tube allows for larger areas of fat removal without having to have additional incisions.

The procedure only requires an incision that is large enough for the cannula tube, which is very small and heals easily. These incisions are placed in carefully chosen areas to minimize the risk of producing visible scars.

What to Expect in a Consultation?

You should expect a consultation from discussing your personal goals for the procedure, to recommending options and an exact course of treatment, discussing the risks and benefits, and gathering information on any allergies, medications, supplements or medical conditions that may affect or influence liposuction. Or how we would best go about it to ensure total patient satisfaction.

Why Choose Us for Liposuction at Flawless Aesthetic Center?

There are two categories of factors that go hand in hand in the areas of plastic and cosmetic surgery. One is the skill and expertise of the physician performing the procedure. This comes with training and experience. The other is that vital eye for aesthetics, which enables the surgeon to evaluate and produce the appealing and desired contours and proportions. Our surgeons are recognized for having both, which is why they are highly sought-after by patients from around the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on the type of liposuction used, the recovery time will vary. If you have tumescent liposuction performed without any other procedures, then you may expect a quick recovery and the ability to resume physical activities about a week after the procedure.

Gaining weight after surgery will diminish the results of liposuction. You may find that less fat will develop in the treated areas. Most patients are inspired to take advantage of a newly-sculpted body and continue to maintain a healthy weight.

No, as the pregnancy will alter the results of the liposuction. It is best to wait until after you have your child so that you can maintain the results and reduce the necessity of multiple treatments.

A tummy tuck can be performed to enhance the shape of your abdomen if you wish to remove stubborn fat and excess skin from that area. Liposuction can also be used during a breast reduction or reconstruction, either grafting fat to enhance the breasts, or removing fat.

This depends on the results that you are looking for and if you are considering procedures alongside of liposuction. The best treatment plan for you will be determined after an evaluation of your condition, by our plastic surgeon.

In some cases, the skin can appear lumpy or uneven after liposuction. This can be avoided by choosing a certified plastic surgeon such as those on our team – we use modern liposuction techniques that produce superior results.

Liposuction is different because it involves strictly fat removal. A tummy tuck will often involve the use of liposuction but will primarily address the abdominal muscles by tightening them as well as removing excess loose, hanging skin.

Yes. It is necessary and in a patient’s best interest that both practitioner and patient are on the same page as far as cosmetic goals, and that patients are well suited for the procedure.
